Hi all,

I have amazing sound from this card but unfortunately I cannot make it compatible with COD5. If I disable the card then COD5 launches ok, otherwise it doesn't. I've trawled through umpteen websites looking for a fix and tried changing the card settings (through 16-bit 44.1 upwards etc, disabling GX and so on) but still get the "Unhandled exception..." message along with the problem being identified as something to do with Xaudio2_4.dll.

My system is as follows:

I7 950
Sabertooth Mobo
6Gb Corsair Dominator RAM
470 SOC
D2X
OCZ SSD 120Gb
1Tb HDD

Windows 7 64bit - fully up to date
DX9.0c installed during game installation
D2X driver - 7.12.8.1792
All other drivers are the latest versions

Any suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance.

I'm also using the D2X and win 7 64bit but have no problems with WAW.

Isn't Xaudio2_4.dll part of directX as opposed to being part of the card driver?

I would try downloading the latest directx runtime here: DXUpdate

Also have you upgraded to your D2X from a previous card? Did you make sure you removed the old card drivers completely.

One last thing that's maybe worth a shot is to disable your onboard audio through the bios if it isn't already disabled.

Thanks for your reply. I've fully updated DirectX via MS. As far as I know the Xaudio2 file is in Windows/System but I'll double-check later.

It is not an upgrade but a completely new build (my previous pc had an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer with no problems whatsoever). I've also disabled the onboard sound in bios.

The only oddity is that in Device Manager it lists the D2X but also 4 other HD sound devices (generic references - no device names). Disabling those but leaving the D2X active does not work.

thanks

Ok I'll try that. Which driver version is it?

Been trying to install the cd drivers for some time now - hangs at the end every single time whether or not I try the XP or Vista drivers. Any suggestions how to get round it?

ITS NOTHING TO DO WITH DIRECTX/its the drivers,i had the exact same problem with cod,the fix i found was to use very early drivers 4 the xonar, try the vista drivers they work for some, you will need to mess about with early drivers to fix this problem, thats what i did
