Xonar dx2 low sound levels

I know, I played around for hours trying to fix that before finding the answer!

I'm posting to help anybody else out with the same problem.

Now, anybody know what settings I should use?

I have a zalman 5.1 headphones connected to the speaker outs and the my z-5500 to the digital out.

Which of the numerous things should I have switched on for games?
 
In the xonar control panel turn on "game" mode for games, not really used the card much so thats all i know about it.
