Hi guys,
I have always used windows xp pro 32 bit but I am rebuilding my pc and upgrading it to use 2x2Gb of Kingston HyperX. Now, I realise that 32 bit wont recognise more than 3 gig but I have heard that 64 bit is a nightmare with a lot of programs. I have checked and all my motherboard drivers, graphics card drivers, and razer settings (I will only be using this for gaming) and they all support windows xp 64 bit. However, I have read around on some forums and a lot of places say games such as cod2 and cod4 wont work properly on 64 bit and I didnt know whether this was a local program to thier pc or a general problem to do with 64 bit. Will cod2 and cod4 work on 64 bit and is it worth for me to use it? I dont want to upgrade my ram and then not be able to use all 4 gigs of it, Thanks;)

Do you already have XP 64bit?

If not, it really isn't worth paying for it when Vista/Win7 are around.
Tbh, get Vista 65 bit with the windows 7 upgrade, or if you can wait, just Windows 7.

I have not come across any compatibility problems in vista X64, but have had no experience with XP X64.

I was just wondering whether all 32 bit applications will run on xp 64 bit, I dont want to upgrade to find that I cannot play my usual games anymore.

I simply only use my pc for playing games and running matlab, and apart from that I use my laptop with vista home premium for all music, word processing and movies.
May I ask why you're not taking this opportunity to move to Windows Vista / Windows 7?

i know call of duty 2 runs fine on xp64. i'm guessing cod4 will as well.

but I have heard that 64 bit is a nightmare with a lot of programs

not true. stuff like drivers are important because they have to be 64bit native. but 99.99% of apps you use are 32bit and run just fine on 64bit systems.
