:D Hi all, i have been given xp64 bit corporate edition, i have norton internet security installed, a few people have said to me that all xp64 bit versions are not compatible with any norton products, is this true, i dont want to go to all the hassle of installing this if its not compatible, need to know asap, thx all:D.
 
nod32 is way better than avg. kaspersky is also very good.
in terms of free antivirus, Avira AntiVir seems to be the best.
comodo is best for any firewall.

i wouldnt get any of the combined products because there isnt really a good combination product out there. either the firewall or the AV is weak.
 
Some peeps seem to post info that's 100% inaccurate and it works on XP+Vista both 32 or 64.

I use ESET Smart Security (Norton 360 is good for familys etc not peeps who want many manual settings which their 2008/09 will have), basically its a "all in one" built on NOD32 and its buggy and nowhere near what it could be so far (go read forums if you want to see for yourself how unfinished it is), and they finally got rid of a high CPU bug after 4-5 builds LOL.

Peeps that say Norton slows down your PC (like in a few recent threads here) don't know what they are talking about, and even bloated Norton back in 2002 didn't slow it down that much if you had modern hardware but it was heavier than others.

Since 2007 the footprint is small, and the complete 2007 package used less resources than my NOD32 did on my PC.

Every year I beta test most good AV so at least I can say I have actually tested and its IMO not rubbish I read elsewhere.

Not true :) The Premium version of AntiVir is actually really good, the Firewall is very accurate and sensitive. And we all know how good the antivirus bit is

I've stopped running antivirus on XP 64-bit as they are all a bit poo. In my experience over the last 2 or 3 years if you don't stream dodgy video, download pr0n and run your e-mail software inside Sandboxie then you're pretty safe anyway.
 
If you don't want to pay for an Anti Virus solution then go for Avast! Home Edition. But if you are willing to pay then NOD32 or Kapersky are the way to go. Both good prices, excellent detection rates etc.

Get rid of Norton. Norton have one good product and that is Ghost.

Another for Avast! 64bit support too.

Don't think the home or the pro version has a fully-fledged firewall though.
 
Running Norton 360 here on Vista Ultimate 64Bit and have no issues what so ever.

People need to get it out of their head Norton slows your PC down, it doesn’t and it’s much better than other virus apps out there, it has a load of features others don’t which in my eyes makes it excellent value for money.






Check how much memory and CPU is being used up, oh yes it does slows your PC down.

Yep just 360 not the new version, 360 uses very little resources to say it slows your system down is funny and with V2 using even less :eek:, I can bet the people who say this haven’t used it let alone have had it installed, it’s a case of jumping on the old bandwagon that Norton is full of bloat and makes your PC crawl to a stop well sorry this isn’t the case :)
