double check the new bridge is also set for dhcp.

then add the one connecting the router.

Not sure what you mean here, basically you set the bridge up by ctrl clicking on each of the NIC's and selecting "bridge" so how do I then "add the one connecting the router."?

You have definetly eliminated the 360 from being the problem by leaving it disconected while bridging.

it is down to the communication between the wireless adaptor and your AP. - Most likely as we discussed something to do with the fake MAC address the bridge provides working with your AP.

can you try and force your ap/adaptor to connect at g or b speeds instead of 'Pre-N' 108mbps speeds? see if that does anything?

also have you limited your routers available IP addresses it can share out for DHCP? - ensure you have plenty (at least 10 more for safety/testing purposes).

try setting the bridge IP manually to a competely random IP like 192.168.2.186 - something that would never have been used.

also try setting the IP of the bridge to another SUBNET say 10.2.0.49/255.255.0.0 - see what that says. (yes it wont work but see whether it accepts it)

OK they say a picture speaks a thousand words so here is me trying to setup a bridge with my wireless NIC:-

Working wireless connection to AP so all looks good there.

Briding the two connections together

As you can see no DHCP address has been found as miniport adapter as 0.0.0.0 (later goes to 169.xxx.xxx.xxx) :(

Compatability mode definately set.

Now I've tried the same thing using two wired NIC's in another PC with the 360 and its works fine and as you would expect so it got something to do with the wireless NIC IMHO.

So I tried 10.10.10.1 (255.255.255.0) and I get duplicate IP errors, there is no way this can be as I've never used the range for anything!

I've just tried it turning the Router off and I don't get any duplicate IP errors, if I turn it back on I do so it seems to be something between the AP and the way the briding works not the wireless NIC itself!

hummm... would you like to try forcing the mode down to 11mbps or 54mbps and not the pre-n 108mbps.

- also try and remove any extra settings on the router to do with the wireless, anything belkin specific or relating to security or mac filtering etc... just temporarily to try and get it working...

To be honset I'm going to admit defeat on this and I'm just going to run a network cable downstairs, I've been theatening to do it for ages and this the "straw the broke the camels back". I'm copying extremely large files down to my MCE so I think I'm going to go the GigE route as even a Pre-N wireless network isn't fast enough when you're copy files that are 10GB ;)

There is no way to force the speed down, no MAC fliterning etc. is enabled.

thats weird in itself! - most higher end ap's allow this

only the bogstandard ones rarely dont. - would be under something like rate adaption 'auto' with options of speed variations - i would expect.

But nevertheless, - its probably irrelevant now. Cable is usually far superior to wireless anyhow!

I forgot yeh stupid sorry. how many ports does the wireless ap have? why dont you just connect the xbox into the wireless ap or buy as xbox wireless adaptor.

Well yes but to be honest there isn't a reason why this shouldn't have worked, the solution to my problem wasn't really to go out and buy more hardware!! (I just couldn't be bothered to waste any more time on this issue) :p

A wireless adapter will be too slow as I want to stream DVD's to my Xbox360
