XP Bridging

Sorry I don't follow you, at the moment I've deleted the bridge, every time I try and set the bridge it doesn't work and complains about dupl. IP's

Well then the best option would be to remove everything but the wireless accesspoint and the 360 from the network, and see if it works.

Well I've got to leave the Media Center in the equation as it's how the 360 derives it connectivity but I had already done just that, turned everything else of other than.

Cable Modem >---- Router >---- Media Center >---- 360 no joy :(

I can make it work with ICS but then that kills the extender functionality of the 360 so this is why I want to use bridging instead of ICS.

Exacty the same thing it complains about a conflciting IP whatever IP I put it on, this is driving me potty ;)

In the bridge miniport settings, you can't change the IP in either of the NIC's as they are part of the bridge.

Why are you bridging them ? what are you acctually trying to achieve ? just the xbox to get out to the outside world ? ..............................

Your going about it the wrong way, theres no need to use ICS, buy a 4 port hub for about 5 quid or even less from ebay if your lucky.

Well I'm not using ICS I'm using bridging and I need to use wireless as the MCE is downstairs and the AP is upstair!

So what are you trying to achieve I asked you before. Do you want the xbox to get to the outside world ? If so then use ICS, I can't see why your trying to bridge it theres no need.

headrat, if you have msn - add me now removed :p

It seems that the XP machine thinks there is another machine(s) with other ip addresses.....

set both the connections on xp to dhcp.

can you bridge the connections in xp WITHOUT either the connections plugged in sucessfully?

double check the new bridge is also set for dhcp.

then add the one connecting the router.

you may have to renew the ip address 'ipconfig /renew' or do the xp 'repair' feature.

then connect in the xbox 360....

let me know what happens and where *if* (touch wood) it fails.

hope this helps

just checking to ensure that it wasn't the xp machine spoofing / set with another IP on one of or another network card somehow!!!

I didn't mean to imply anything there, I didn't think it would allow it tbh.
