Hmm, can any body shed any light on this? I'm running XP Pro, and when I go to reboot or shutdown, it'll run through the 'Saving your settings' etc etc as usual until it reaches 'Windows is shutting down...', but it will hang for about a minute or so before actually switching off/rebooting. I've tried searching around for the answer but not had much luck, can anyone help?

Thanks in advance :)

Mine used to do this everytime I closed down , but I was running Panda as an anti-virus .The panda icon came on the lower right hand side of the screen and took ages to close down .I think it was saving settings etc.I no longer use Panda and the PC is quicker at closing down .Is something taking it's time to save settings ect ?? , I know XP backs an awfull lot of stuff up .I have my system restore setting switched off ,I wonder if this has something to do with the time it takes to close ??

if you have loads of crapola in your system tray, it might be worth shutting them down manually first and seeing if that makes a difference? :)

Mine does that, but that's because 'Clear Pagefile at Shutdown' is enabled. See here & here regarding this :)

I used to have this problem with my baby, it turned out to be sygate *Gutted! Favourite software firewall*

I didn't notice this posted in the other links but you might like to try XP Anti-Spy. It has some canny handy settings including an 'enable fast shutdown' option.
