XP Install Problem

Hi guys, normally i don't have a problem with this stuff, but i need a hand with this one.

When i attempt to install xp onto a (formatted) hard disc, i get as far as pressing any key to continue and then i get a blue screen with the title at the top and nothing else.

Ive left it for hours at a time and it did nothing.

Any ideas people?

Faulty disc? Faulty Hard Drive?

ive tried using a different hd and different copies of xp, no luck

If you can run a BIOS based memory test utility i would suspect that as the first possible cause.

Try memtest to see if ram is ok.

try a different cd drive, or different media cd

use memtest (its a bootable iso image, burn it with imgburn)
