I am trying to install xp on a old system i use to run win2k on,the system is a 2500 barton 1.5gb ram abit nf7s,its been running 2k for about 4 years, but i got a virus last night so decided to wipe the hdd and install xp.Soon as its finished copying files and system restarts to begin install it crashes to a error at 39 minutes and says sumthing about critical error, ive tryed 3 times to install today and no joy

that some classic overclocking kit you got there? if it's overclocked, try again at stock. installing xp might be more of a strain on the system than windows 2000.

sorry if it's not overclocked. :p

might be worth checking the memory with memtest?

lol its not clocked, everything hasnt been changed since i bought it in 2004 lol, think the bios might be the problem thats stopping xp installing?

its soon as xp starts to install,it goes from the blue xp screen and restarts pc then the black xp background appears then soon as it starts installing it just says sumthing about log file too short then says critital error and then tells me to close it

I don't want to try to teach you to suck eggs here but have you tried Googling the exact message? :)
