XP install - should I select quick or full NTFS format?

Depends why you're formating.

Lots of virii and the like then it's a full job. Just a tidy up then it's a quicky.

all full does is an error check, unless you think there's a problem with the disk, select quick

dim problem :)

neither will 'hurt' the drive incase you're wondering, quick format takes about 15 seconds, full takes a while depending on size!

I usually do a full format on a new drive, have found a few defective ones in my time that way that would've gone unnoticed until too late more than likely if a quick format was done.

i'll 2nd that, always good to full format a new drive

Looks like you've got your answer there.

I'd just go for the full format too...just incase.

It might turn out to be a waste of time but could save you lots in the future.
