I was considering putting Windows XP back on my machine, as a possible dual boot jobby, as I have been having issues with Vista and internet connection.

When I went to install XP, it gets as far as the Press Enter to install XP, R to Repair of F3 to exit without installation and then freezes. This is a geniune XP disc, and runs fine on other machines so not just mine.

However, when I retried it says just after the motherboard screen press F6 to install.....(cannot remember exactly what this is) When I did this, it required a floppy disc to be inserted. As I dont have a floppy drive, is there an alternative way to install the drivers being requested? A USB key or CD maybe?

F6 is the sata drivers right ?

if so i believe that they can be slipstreamed onto a disk containing xp for a nice quick install.

never having done this myself i am unsure how to do it, but i'm sure someone here will help you out :)

As said, you can slipstream the SATA drivers and many other things in to your Windows install.

It is a bugger of a thing to do, but thankfully there is a lovely little prog called Nlite (http://www.nliteos.com/) that does it all for you and for free :)

Download it, install it. Copy the contents of your entire windows CD to a folder on your working PC, e.g. C:\bootcd\ then run the Nlite program and follow the instructions.
