Trying to get my new 2x320 F1s in raid 0 installed with XP, running into problems

It detects the array, but doesnt let me format it with NTFS in order to install XP, i just get an "unknown partition type".

Using a nlited DVD with the Intel RAID drivers slipstreamed on (as far as i'm aware).

Does this mean the drivers aren't on properly, or that they aren't working? Anyone got any hints how to proccede?

gave XP a break, and managed it with Windows 7, which is a nice change.

I'll give it another crack when i have some time

Do people still use RAID cards or is the Motherboard normaly up to the job these days?

RAID cards (good ones) are better as they use a co-processor to relieve the load on the CPU and are generally more flexible in the RAID modes on offer. They also offer more channels. Cheap cards are no better than the motherboard implementation though (which is usually a cut-down version of the full product)

depends whether you want to spend £70+ (often a LOT more) on a RAID card for an array that might cost you only that much (2x320GB F1s isnt expensive).
