Before i start this isnt a vista or xp bashing thread i just need to know which OS is better for WoW performance wise, XP or Vista ?
Thanks in advance :)

ALT+TAB and WoW works better with XP, and I used it a lot when I was playing WoW, performance wise it doesnt matter, WoW works fine on both OSs.

Alt+Tab works the same for me, unless you mean when using full screen mode in which case I have no idea, full screen sucks.

the only problem i have with vista and wow is when i minimize it takes a second or so for the gadget bar to load before i can do anything

Really?

My alt+tab works *perfectly* on vista, and I am on the desktop in a second. Nothing slows down, and it works flawlessly.

I would say Vista just because its newer and looks nicer. If you have 2GB+ of ram and a reasonable CPU, then vista all the way.

*EDIT* Forgot to mention, 1920x1200, everything maxed, including the macro for graphics, and all options at max blah blah.

whats the macro for graphics?

Anyone who dares say XP is better, is full of bull.

XP is old and past it. Stop clinging onto the past like some relic.

For home use, businesses it isn't worth the money.

I had WoW with vista and a 3870 was getting over 100fps, it's fine.

I know WoW is generally full of kids, but I wasn't aware there were many 5 year olds....is he taking the p*** or what? :D

Hello Grayshadow,

The macro looks really cool, you just have to make sure your graphics card can handle the settings. And Shatt, with it's large population, constant movement, and special effects going on can really tax a card's redraw capability.

Just think of a painter trying to paint a scene in the country and now have them try to paint a scene of a large bustling city, they might have problems trying to keep up with the scene changing all the time. Now add more detail and more colors to the painter's palette then ever before. If the painter is quick and sharp they'll do fine, but if not, they might slip and get stuck trying to paint a scene 10 seconds ago and failing to paint what's going on now - hence a crash.

For some reason it took me few seconds after ALT+TAB on Vista I could do anything, I then realised that it was due WoW running on 16bit color and my system on 32bit color, when I changed Vista to 16bit color it was as quick as on XP.
