sorry if there is an FAQ for this but i couldnt find one.

i have just got the following system
AMD X2 4800+ CPU
ASUS M2N32-SLI Wireless Edition Motherboard
2GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX
Hiper Modular 580 Watt PSU
2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II Hard Drives
Sound Blaster Audigy 4
1 x Gainward Geforce 7900GTX 512mb DDR3
Thermaltake Soprano Case with window

which operating system would be best to go for?

i have win xp pro, but wondering if i should be looking at the 64 bit version

Thanks

x64 is for IT professionals and server/render farms only really. Vista x64 should improve things but it will still take time for games and other software to be compatible with it.

General rule of thumb is "If you have to ask, you don't need x64."

Aye. Had my new Dual Xeon workstation arrive today, and that's running x64.

...any excuse to drop 'MY Dual Xeon Workstation' into a thread :D

As long as you dont drop it anywhere else- those things weight a ton :p

What role you got planned for it btw (just being nosey tbh)

i just put 32bit back on after having 64bit since the beginning of the year, it was irritating me that i couldnt use a custom keyboard layout and some games didt work properly.
