XP security

Whilst it's a little surprising, got to remember this is XP, an ageing OS, created in a time when the world wasn't quite so concerned with security

Vista/7 will be much better against things like this as they are a more modern OS designed with security in mind.

The problem is, far, far too many people still use that ageing OS and a lot of those users run as Admin.
