XP setup not recognising keyboard.

I'm trying to install XP to a friends computer but for some reason it doens't seem to recognise the keyboard in the installation process. The keyboard works fine as I've tried it on my computer, and when you start his computer up with it installed the lights flash up, but as soon as it goes to the file copying stage it just stops working.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

If it's a USB one then double check the settings in the bios. May only be set for bios support.
