Xp, slow boot...?

Wonder if anyone can help, a mate has a pc, that seems to boot really slow, (3500XP 2 gig ram) (win xp sp2)

now, if you choose safemode, it boot fast, but in normal mode, takes, ages, i have used ccleaner to reduce start items, done a defrag, just takes a long time,

is there any program that watchs, times and records the boot process?

Bootvis can do that. Usually when a PC is at that stage though, the only cure is a clean install.

Mine flies into Xp from a cold boot in 20 seconds since reinstalling everything due to a virus killing the last install, it was previously taking anything up to 2 minutes!
