has any body noticed a difference in how much they can overclock their processors with these different operating systems?

vista i can get 4.22 stable whilst in 7 i can hit 4.4 currently keep at 4.22 because the dominators can be a bit fiddly over 1600 settings (qpi voltage is the key)

when i had my q6600 it would hit 3.2 Ghz on xp but 3.8 Ghz on vista

I wouldnt of thought it would make any difference, but apparently it does! Only got Windows7 installed now on my PC. Used to have XP on it as well but never noticed problems booting into either

There shouldn't be a difference in weather your system is stable after an overclock or not depending on which operating system you're using. If your system is stable, it will be stable regardless of which operating system you're using.

How are you testing the stability of your system after you have overclocked?

what firewizard said

if you have a stable overclock then it stops there

regardless of what software you are using
