XP won't install

On my new build i popped in the XP disc (pre sp1) and after the loading screen (all the driver names at the bottom) it gives a bsod. Tried again and it did it in the same place.

I had heard it was due to not having an sp1/2 version of xp, any ideas?

p5q w/ integrated gpu
2 gb ram (known good)
500gb WD HDD
480w PSU (known good)
intel 5300 (stock)

BSOD? That's strange...

Must be borked cd tbh, try with diff windows disc and see if that works.

The cd is fine, i think it is more to do with it lacking native pci-e, sata support i.e. pre SP1.

I've installed many normal XPs on new machines and never seen any BSODs...

As I've said it looks very strange, if it was problem with drivers etc it should just hang up or not install at all, but no BSOD...

I guess easiest option is download sp2 or sp3, burn it and see?

I have as well (which is why it confused me) In all fairness i have not used this lauch copy of xp for years.
