XP2500M/nForce2 setup, thinking of upgrading

Hiya

I'm toying with the idea of upgrading my system, the current specs being: Abit NF7-S v2.0, XP2500-M (@ 2.45), SP-97 cooler, X800XT-PE 256Mb, 2Gig Corsair PC3200 DDR (2x 1Gig), Tagen 480w PSU.

The only game i play atm is WoW. Apart from that mainly web browsing. If i can get a reasonable performance hike for not 'too' many pennies i'd probably go for it...just don't tell the wife

Any comments/suggestions greatly appriciated

for £200ish you can get an E6300 Core Duo and an ASRock Dual board (see thread about it in motherboard section), that will take your current RAM and AGP Graphics card and give you quite a big boost.

the graphics you have should be fine for now.

i've got specs just worse than yours and i'm doing a full upgrade, but i have looked at the £200 option

Thanks for that mate.....better point out tho that my g.card is AGP not PCI-E.

yeah, that motherboard will take conroe and DDR1 ram and AGP graphics

Just had a look at that thread, sound's like a good upgrade for around £150 :cool:

Just have to find something to sell to fund it

your current mobo/cpu/cooler should fetch about £60 at least i'd have thought as plenty of people just want a compter that will "work"

I'd probably give it to my daughter, she has my old 1.4 Athlon, 512Mb Crucial PC133, 9700 Pro set-up
