I recently got an Xperia X1 and I'm trying to transfer data to it, but I keep getting this error when I plug it in via USB. It appears in Device Manager as an "unknown device" under the USB controllers section. I've tried different USB cables, ports and different computers. I've uninstalled the unknown device in device manager, soft resetted the Xperia and restarted my PC in an attempt to reinstall the drivers for it, but it had no effect. ActiveSync doesn't recognise it, even with the advanced network funtionality unticked. Also the disk drive option gives the same effect.

I'm using XP SP3 and I got the phone on its own, no software or cables or anything. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks

With my old Sony Ericsson phones there came this some kind of Sony Ericsson Suite software where you could do all sorts including transfering of media, maybe you need that?

How are you finding the X1 anyway? I've had thoughts about getting it when the X2 arrives. :D

Could be a duff socket on the phone had a similar problem with my old Tytn 2, the socket got loose over time and was very hit and miss as to when it would connect.

I'm sure there's some settings that needs enabled on the handset itself. I'll need to wait until i get home to check on my xperia as i dont use it anymore (htc hero is my daily phone)
