This has finally been released! More info from HERE

Main reason for posting is to ask if anyone has this? I'm having troubles with the CD as it will not boot. I insert the CD and it goes straight to the redish backdrop and states 'Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc'

Now i'm using the new slimline PS2 version 12? scph-75003. I'm trying to see if its my model that has problems with it.

I've got this response from xploder..

"We have tested the software on most PS2 models, old and new and it runs
fine. We will test on your model no. and see if there are any issues with
the 75003."

The most part worries me a little! :(

quick Q: where did you buy it from? Ordered online or from a shop - i've been interested in one for a long time

regards

I would expect them to run a test on all known model of ps2 before selling them..?

Gameplay mate. I would have expected them to have tested all models too.

Gameplay won't test, they believe the manufacturers.

That would be like saying you expect them to test each and every copy of each and every game before they send it to you :p.

I wasn't meaning Gameplay (I should have been more clear). I would never expect any retailer to test something such as this. I was referring to the actual manufacturers performing tests on all versions of the PS2.

I dont have this but isnt that what its meant to do? ie you put in a ps2 disc after its been loaded into memory ?

Nah its supposed to boot to a title screen and you chose some settings. a lot of people from another forum has kinda the same problem as me it seems.

From what i've read on other forums... this is rather rubbish. Doesnt work with a load of games and looks a tad sketchy :/ Shame, as I was looking forward to my PS2 games not looking like SICK on my HD.

Was looking into this. How does it work? Does it basically deinterlate the signal and blow it up to some HDTV res?

If that's all it does you'd have to be pretty dumb to buy it since you'd get the exact same effect from simply plugging your ps2 into an HDTV.

I bought just a cheap component lead off an auction site not so long ago to use with my HDTV, tbh it was quite an improvement over the supposedly decent scart lead I had before.

Very sharp picture, massive difference in pro evo at least. Was around a fiver. Tempted to give this a go to see if it's any better again.

Got it today and quick tested killzone and metal gear solid 2 which ran great at 720p (after adjusting the screen size on my toshiba 32wlt66).Also tried toca 2 and nfs underground again with great results in 720p . Tried battlefield 2,wipeout fusion and gran turismo 3 but none of these would work.Ran a quick test on ridgeracer 5 in (60 hz) 720p and that is also running great.
The 1080i mode drastically reduces the screen size so a small window runs in the middle of your tv and is no use when you have a big 32" hdtv.

Now going to do a search for a decent compatability list but i very much doubt that Blaze,s claim of 95% of all ps2 games will work

For now i,ll play mgs2 in glorious(upscaled) hi def and see if it has any "issues"

Overall not a bad product but dont pay more than 20 quid

and just HOPE your favourite games will work

Thats like saying ffd show upscaling is the same as plugging a dvd player into the hdtv, completley false.

Depends on what chip is used in the TV itself. Sure ffd show and various other PC-based upscalers will be better - but they have the power of an entire PC at their disposal. But some of the upscaling DVD players for example, use the same upscaling components as used in some TVs. Can't remember the names, but a quick search through AV forums will get you what you need.
