The power port on my m1530 is very loose, basically it holds the pin fine but if any pressure if applied to the cable it will come out. Its been like this since I purchased it unfortunatly it was over 1 year when I got it, which hasnt got any worse.
If its now used on a knee it might fall out if you reach for something. It has to be used on the desk so the lead is supported. It is useable but alittle annoying.
After speaking with dell, they have said they would class this as 'faulty' and want £400 for the motherboard.
They qouate this is wear and tear, I consider this to be a joke a port should be designed to be plugged and unplugged! I know I could buy a refurb boad for 1/3 of this but this is not the point.
Without this tread turning into a massive can of worms, isnt there a Eu law that something should be designed to last longer than 1 year, regardless of thier warrenty. Nothing should wear this quickly, therefore it is defective. I qouted this to dell and the agent promptly arranged a callback for me tommorow from a customer care team, however I am not sure if I can force anything to be done from here.
A photograph of the offending port is below: It looks perfect with no expansion, cracks or signs of misuse.
Is there any way I could maybe wangle a free repair from them, I have seen loads of complaints about this problem but no one has followed up on wither they have given in.
