XSPC Laing DDC Bay Res

Don't think the pumps are submerged. Id hope not, as the DDC's have no reason to be waterproof from the outside, and from what I've seen online about modding them, they aren't.

The res looks very good, I've not seen it before but I'm definitely impressed. I doubt it will do anything for noise, as the res will be hard mounted into your case, so vibrations will still get out.

Softmount that and it'll be as quiet as you could ask for. It's what I'm using now, and my fans are louder. Scythe s-flex, running at 8V ish. I think it's hard to get a quieter pump, and having the reservoir directly over it does good things for performance.

Hi Jon,

I have the same pump/res combo. Installed it last night and I get a high pitched noise coming from it. It's only been on for 2 hours and most of the air is out of the loop.

Does it need running in? I have it sat on a thin piece of foam and I can't hear any vibration, just a high pitched noise :( My pc would be completely silent otherwise.:(

To OP, sorry for posting my questions in your thread.

Hmm, it didn't run dry at any time did it?

Does the noise change if you apply pressure to the body to the pump with your hand? By that I mean press the pump down onto the foam or squeeze the casing a bit and see if the sound changes.

No it didn't run dry. I cut the power just before it got to the bottom. It does sound a bit better now as I left the loop leak testing again last night for a good 3 hours. It seemed to improved once I put the res cap back on too. When the side panel is back on it should be grand.

I have a question, the four bolts at the front what do they do,just hold on the faceplate, the reason i ask is i need to have a white front fitted if i buy this res.
Thanks.

Better late than never....
At various times I've had my DDC and D5 suspended in an elastic harness, bungees would probably work too. This isolates all mechanical vibration from the case,

I quite want to do this, but am looking with suspicion at the strength of the reservoir. Do you happen to know if the pump + xspc combination can be hung off a vertical tube going to a fillport? I'm concerned about threads shearing, and about the reservoir itself tearing open. Considering testing mine now, but can't do much more than attach a tube and pull.

Glad its improved. My guess is bubbles combined with whatever it is that seems to lower the pressure inside my reservoir below atmospheric when its bleeding. No high pitched whine from mine, but based on this thread I'm going to be very careful to never let it run dry for fear of this occuring.
