Was recently looking into my pc just to see if im getting the performace i should.

I ran a benchmark on Xtu to find that every 10 -20 second the current limit throttling tab flashes yellow for a second or so accompanied by a drop in certain frequencies.

Can anybody shed some light on this?

i can make a video or upload an image if its of further help. Im assuming its due to a power supply which may be tethering on the lines of supply. I have a 500w running a gtx 1070 and i7 4790k and when i tried to run a Oc a year or so ago even with a slight power increase in demand the Pc wouldnt post.

I hope this makes sense. Im pretty computer literate and can usually work stuff out using a quick google search but anything i read is not specific and lacks clarity to me.

What brand/model of PSU is it? And are you running stock clocks?

A 4790k and 1070 system at stock clocks can probably pull 350-400W at the wall. I'd say delivering 300W is fine for a good 500W PSU but if it's a cheaper one and it's a few years old, it may well be struggling.

First rule of overclocking club..
Don't pay too much attention to buggy utilities, especially if they are made by Asus. Real bench is maybe an exception as it's a good overall test.

Do you have any instability? Are your temps OK?
What PSU do you have?

Is it possible that you are running into the current limits as defined in your mobo bios?

Full specs, especially mobo and PSU would be helpful.

OK... so the whole overclocking thing should be ignored as the system wasnt overclocked. But last night i was able to run a successfull OC none the less. There is no problem with not enough draw from my power supply thats is certain.

None the less i still get that warning on Xtu about current limit throttling.

@Disco_P I am currently running a Asus z97p Board, i7 4790k, gtx 1070 Rog strix OC, the PSU is a KL c500W.
