Im looking to build a computer from scratch and would appreciate any comments/suggestions on the following. While I am looking to overclock im not looking to push things to the limit, also im not sure if heat is an issue as I live in Thailand, so my ambient room temperature varies all year round between 26C to a max of about 31C when the aircon is not on, which is a fair bit warmer than my home in Scotland! To this end I have considered getting my first ever water system as I value quietness.

Main computer uses:
Stock Trading (Charting etc).
Music, Films.
Gaming (all sorts..driving, FPS, God games...im not someone who insists on having all settings maxed out however).
General Use.

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition"
OR
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.20GHz

The reason for the indecession here is im pondering perhaps better to just "get by" on the E4500 and upgrade to a Penryn later on, or, get the Quad straight off and not get a penryn.

Cooler:
Thermaltake Big Typ VX

Motherboard:
Unsure here, the IP35, DQ6 or the P5k.

Case:
Antec P182.

PSU:
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2
OR
Enermax Infiniti 650W EIN650AWT ATX2.2

Hard Disk:
Western Digital Raptor 74GB
(I`ll upgrade with more disk space later)

GFX:
Asus GeForce 8800 GTS HTDP 320MB

Sound:
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional 7.1 Soundcard

Monitor:
Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" Widescreen
OR
Samsung SM-245B 24" Widescreen LCD
OR
Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor
(See so many conflicting advice on these, what does the new 226CW improve on?)

Speakers:
Logitech Z-5500 THX® Certified 5.1 505 Watts Speakers
OR
Creative GigaWorks 7.1 S750

RAM:
No Idea, best I can get for upto ~£100.

For around £111, you can get a 4 x 1gb kit, giving you 4gb memory with dual-channel.

I'd suggest going the extra £7 or so and getting 2x2gb as per the OcUK kit if similar is available in Thailand, I know that Intels don't have the same problems with all Ram slots filled that A64s do/did but going for 4 sticks invites a little more in the way of problems than 2 sticks does. :)

Welcome to the forums ArtfulD, your choices are all fairly solid although I a) wouldn't bother with a Raptor as they cost a lot for not a huge amount of extra performance (I'd purchase a 320gb WD AAKS drive instead probably) and b) pick the motherboard on either what you can get over there or perhaps more importantly whether the water-cooling will fit.
