yay or nay - ASUS COMMANDO

It's a godsend not having to pull out half the SATA connectors then blindly grab about with a pair of long-nose pliers to get at the reset pins.
I agree, especially with 2 gfx cards with dual slot coolers in there too ...

External as in the outside of the box? Wouldn't that be annoying as hell if you hit them by mistake? Same going for the switches inside on the motherboard actually. Knowing my I'd be hitting off them all the time.

abit fit them on the back I/O panel below the PS/2 ports.

And it's a stiff dipole switch so you'd need to be really unlucky to operate it by accident.

Just get a Guru panel GP-02 - note the red hazard symbol.
There's a clear CMOS switch under that cover.

After much searching I am going for DS3P has all the features that I could want and the price is good bios seems to be stable and it doesn’t look to bad, a bit like motherboard really, but if you like a bit of bling then I suppose there are better looking ones out there!

Dont get DFI, since they shut down dfi-streets support is a pain. I got the Asus Commando Mobo, it's a good board it looks good and I havnt had any problems what-so-ever.

Nice that it tells me if I have ram or cpu problems on startup with the little screen too.

DFI-Street was never good at support, it was good at during the NF4 days which the amount of clocking tips and modded bios'.

After nf4 was over and done with, it was just Angry games being rude to everyone pretty much.

They had no choice to shut it down, Travis shouldn't have made those comments public about DFI wether true or not.

Could someone quickly outline the advantages of a QuadGT over a P5B or DS3 please? :)

Fastest of all the P965 chipset boards at the moment
Plenty of clear space around all the major connectors means anything and everything fits
1T RAM support

Did I mention it's VERY fast? :D

So it's faster clock for clock? Why's that?

What's the overclock potential like compared to others? I can't be bothered wading through pages and pages of threads... :p

because it sticks to the 1067 strap whereas virtually all other 965 chipset mobos switch to the looser 1333 strap ~400fsb

well over 500fsb given a good CPU, adequate cooling etc.

I'm really sorry about this, but this needed mentioning, its...
as cunning as a fox who's just been appointed professor of fast at Oxford University.

I'm just as clueless with motherboards, I really like asus boards, never had a problem with them (hell, the P3 mobo's been going for years as my p2p server)

Sadly, I've had 2 gigabyte mobos fail on me, I've not bought one since, the GA-965P looks somewhat good in comparison to the commando.

Its a 'very' good board, looks the part and does the job, for some reason it doesn't get bigged up enough on these forums?

I would like to see a mobo thats better, from using it I can say its a very 'robust' product, never had to clear CMOS once!

actually it's as cunning as a fox that's just been appointed professor of cunning at Oxford University - hence why I swapped fast for cunning twice ... :p

Judging by this years boat race.... :D

And just a quick totally off-topic aside - Why aren't Glasgow (my alma mater) in a boat race with Edinburgh? That way we could have a Scotland vs. England race every year :D
