Yeah, Aprilia twins can still mix it with the inline 4's for max speed!!

164 indicated on a k4 gsxr 600 (on the track ofc) loads left too

bikes are stable at that speed but from my experience cars seem to "squirm" around after they get to 150+

Best way to describe a bike at speed is missile, I cant think if any reason why you could come off on a straight providing it's a decent clean road.

I agree.

But I did ( on the road, not track ) .

I had a guy who could hardly walk without the aid of sticks, turn into my path in his Fiesta back in 1990.

He nearly killed me. I bounced off his windscreen ( smashing it as I went ), then slid up the road and hit a drystone dyke wall.

Was off work for almost a whole year. Fractured Femur, had my spleen removed and mucho's metal pins etc, inserted.

Just goes to show, it's safer as a biker to crash on a track instead of a road.

Draeger any chance you could add me to msn?

I'd love to get a motorbike but I'm really skinny and would look stupid in leathers!

My neighbour has a GSXR100 (I think thats what it is) in black, very nice looking machine. He was talking to my dad not long ago about it and he reckons it can do 110Mph in 1st gear, is he telling the truth?

Not sure about the very latest thou's but I wouldnt think it is 110mph. I would more think 90-100mph in 1st gear.

I know my Busa is older but it is only geared for 81.6mph in 1st and 110.1mph in 2nd. 1st gear is pretty pointless, accelerate hard and it just wheelies. 3rd gear is when it really gets going goes 139.8mph true in that but shows an indicated 150mph on the speedo :D

The newer thou's are lighter though this is why they get away with a taller 1st gear.

The gearing on my Busa with a standard gearing setup:

iirc those mille (sp) have another cool feature.. or at least a guy from work had one that did this...

it had a stop watch facility, that when you flashed the lights acted as a lap timer !

Yes current 1000cc bikes do just over 110MPH in first gear and still have enough power to wheelie in the first few gears. They make fast cars seem slow :)

i remember a incident went i was driving the 200 (circa 280bhp at that time) and a bike was matching my flat out acceleration from 0-100mph on his back wheel only!

i couldnt catch him even though he was balancing the throttle to keep it on the back wheel!

only reason we didnt keep going like this over 100mph was the fact a corner was coming up :D
