yellah!!

I have a fairly northern accent (from just outside Derby) and I've never had a problem with it, neither had my mum.

Why are you people suprised that a machine can only recognise those who are well spoken?

ALRIGHT INNIT MATE isn't going to cut it.

To be quite frankly honest there is no excuse for not pronouncing things properly. People can not expect programmers on the other side of the world to account for you inability to pronounce your native tongue.

im sure she'd have the same problem with expensive voice recognition software unless she spent hours teaching it her accent. sometimes people expect way too much from what is essentially a game, not the most sofisticated voice recognition software in the world.

I don't understand why anyone would expect generic voice recognition software to recognise that many strong accents.
Not generic, but there are software packages that do a very fine job now. A typical home PC can run them but that's still a fair bit more processing power than the DS can muster.

I also didn't get the point really, save people finding solace from the fact they're not the only ones who struggle with those particular parts of the games (the rest of the games being perfectly playable without speech recognition).

I'm from oop north and it picks my voice up fine. Apart from when I need to say "Blue", which it just doesn't recognise at all.

Same for my Wife!... She's from Whitby, and even though she's been down south since 1996 and has lost most of her accent (she still has the odd little idiosyncrasy), I can hear her shouting "Blue... BLUE... BLUE!... BLUE!!!!!!!" makes me laugh!...

Everything else is fine with her voice!!...

I've not tried it with my Mockney yet though!! :D
