Yes, another ebay sucks thread.

I'd call up eBay again and tell them if they don't do anything you're going to go to the police with a fraud claim.

Might get them off their asses, who knows? In either case you should probably do that, don't let this ****er win.

Why would ebay care? The fraud case would be against the buyer not them. They've already covered their obligations by returning the OPs fees.

Got a random email saying they have appealed my case and found in my favor this time and given me my money back guess shouting at them and quoting their own policy back to them got them to do something about it., now the buyer has no lamp or money. Feels good.

We've reviewed your concerns and have reversed the outcome of the case. You don't need to take any additional action to reimburse eBay for the refund paid to the buyer, and eBay will make no further attempts to seek reimbursement from you.

Because we decided in your favor, this case, any feedback left, and all detailed seller ratings left, will not affect your seller performance. In addition, any feedback left for this transaction will be removed.

If you have other questions, please contact us. You can reach us by going to the eBay website and clicking "Help & Contact" in the upper right corner and then selecting "Contact eBay."

Thanks,

eBay

- Set up new ebay & paypal account
- Create fake auction on new account
- Get friend to buy item for £50
- Withdraw payment from Paypal and unlink bank account
- Don't send item, get friend to say they never received it
- Paypal refund friend and put your account into the negative
- Don't care - if they aren't going to stick to their own rules, why should you?

Edit: never mind, good result! Although they've probably reimbursed you from their own pocket rather than from the buyer :(

I was tempted after all the fannying around I've had to do being on hold for hours at a time.

They finally gave my money back so I guess the matter is closed and the last time I sell anything on ebay.

Erm why do you think the buyer will now have no money?? You shouted at them long enough for them to basically pay you off to keep you quiet and I doubt they will chase the buyer for the money as its easier to keep him quiet also. (This may be one of the reasons why the fees are so high if they just refund people so they don't badmouth ebay)

Glad it's now been resolved :)

Ebay are a total farce now. It's a haven for low life scum who'll rob you blind by abusing the protection policies. I've encountered many a dodgy seller also.

There was a time on ebay say pre-2005 you could reliably trade on the same trust basis as the members market, I'd paid £500 via bank transfer before for a laptop and received it no problem, also sold and received payment via bank transfer for other high value items as well. Wouldn't dream of doing that now.

He paid out of his paypal, when they found in his favour they took £50 out of mine which has now come back to me, so his paypal account will be £50 worse off as well.

I remember the old days of sending a cheque, or even cash, in an envelope for games and whatnot from eBay... and never being scammed once.

Now it's a cesspit.

I sold a keyboard on ebay and the buyer lodged a complaint saying that I had sent the wrong one and clearly he had swapped it. I had to sign an affidavit with ebay and they allowed me to keep the money, don't know if they refunded the buyer.

I monitored his account to see if he would try and resell my keyboard and he was selling illegal license software codes so I reported him to ebay for it (vindictive I know), ebay removed the auctions but he phoned in to ebay to ask why they had been removed and they told him that I had reported him. Ebay actually gave him my details and he emailed me.

I recently got scammed via ebay also - 1st time. Just got off with paypal again ... the guy was been trying to get his money back for 1 1/2 months and finally did a charge back and paypal charged my account 14pounds for his chargeback. I sold a gamecode which he used then claimed I didnt give him it etc ...

you guys are right about cesspool for losers - maybe someday these guys will get some karma paid back to them.

Wow, pretty sure that's a major breach of the DPA right there!

I listed a new unused Nokia phone (unwanted upgrade from 3 years ago) on eBay on Saturday night with a £50 buy-it-now with best offer. Sunday afternoon I receive a best offer of £40 then a minute later the same person buys it for the full price of £50 and pays using PayPal.

I can't help thinking that this is going to be a problem transaction involving a scam.

You can set the 'best offer' to automatically accept an offer within your set parameters, otherwise it needs to have your consideration. The guy obviously didn't want to hang around to wait for your answer and just bought it in case anyone else beat him to it, thats all.

I got fed-up of including best-offer in my listings due to all the jokers offering around 50% of the buy-it-now price.

How well did you pack it by the way? What did you use?

I used to sell a lot of stuff on eBay and took photos of the item, photos of the packing and finally the box being sent and would send them to the persons email address so they understood what they was getting and how it should arrive. Made sure to pack the things so well that out of 100+ or so I only had one damaged item and one lost item.

Maybe he didn't want someone buying it in the meantime while he waited for your answer.

I've done it before, put in offers then decided to buy it outright.

Looking at the buyer's feedback and his own items for sale, he seems to buy and sell a lot of mobiles. He is also registered as a business seller so hopefully legit.

I agree about the best offer jokers, also received a best offer of 50% an hour after I listed it. Swifty declined.
