I know the 980Ti around the corner. But its probably too costly for my tastes.

I know it could possibly drop the 980 prices a little. But then I can make some back from selling games.

But I currently have two KFA2 980 SOC in my basket.

Do I just buy them and be done?

Or do I wait til next week?

Or do I just stick with AMD and hope they get their act together some time in the near future?

I understand your frustration (295x2 and BenQ Freesync monitor here) but at this point it would surely be best to wait just a little longer to see what the new cards from both teams are like and how they affect the prices of current cards.

Wait, 980ti might only be around £100 more and it looks to be closer to Titan X performance than it does to the 980.

Stick with what you have until the new releases. Hopefully AMD have a crossfire profile out for elite by then so you can make a better decision about how to move forward. Having played elite on a 7970 i doubt it's so bad on 1 x 290x 8gb in the mean time. Still if i had 3 x 290x 8gb's i would probably be a little miffed at having no support for this length of time.

A couple of 980Ti's. If they're too rich for your blood then a single Titan X with a view to double up in the near future.

Drop those 290's like a bad cold. AMD's multi-card supports, ****.

You'll be kicking yourself if you don't wait, AMD might even have some surprises in store rather than just the rumoured rebadges?

Damn you all! Well, most of you!

:D

Since when did all of you get sensible?

Still tempted... but you have given me pause at least. Lets see if I can make it til after 4PM without ordering...

I'm going to high-jack since your question has been answered.

I currently have a KFA2 980 SOC and I'm now very tempted for another since it's on offer. So, do I buy another and enjoy SLI or wait and get a single 980Ti?

I'm in a similar dilemma, my 780 recently died and I'm now running on on-board GFX from my 4790k. My 780 wont be back to me for anywhere up to 28 days as OcUK have had to send it off to Gigabyte.

Do I get a 980 now and get a GPU back in my PC?
Do I wait for 980Ti to release and purchase one for my PC and sell the returned 780 for a bit of cashback?
Do I be patient and wait for Gigabyte to get my 780 back to me and suffer through using on board?

It's such a hard decision to make :(

Depends how long Ocuk have it in their possession before they send it off! From past experience when I've sent direct to Gigabyte it's been about a 2 weeks turn around.

Just to add I can't fault my KFA2 SOC 980.

One of the best cards I've had and this one overclocks like a beast.

I'm waiting for price drops before I even consider a 2nd.

I feel your pain Eyetrip and would be the same as you but best to just wait till at least the 390X is launched and you will have a wider picture of what is what then.
