YESSS!!! fractal define r4 is out!

I normally have access to whatever case I'm making a base for but am sure we can sort it.
Drop me a trust email with a drawing with detailed measurements of case bottom. Will need to know of anything that sticks up (actually down) off of the flat plane of bottom. The channel the filter slide in for example... and the distance from outer edge of filter slide channel to side of case. Of course length and width of bottom plus the door thickness. I'll post an image of my latest base in a few minutes.

Shadow on left shows how back piece is below sides pieces allowing filter to slide in and out.
R4 would not have the little triangles in it. They are for indexing a magnetic mounting Silvestone filter.

In post #107 this thread I tried describing what I needed to make a base for R4

My guess is R4 base will be very similar to R2-3 but without the triangles and of course wider to match case. I have been thinking of making base 10mm wider than case. This would allow side panels to only be 1-2mm above base so easier to index on when installing, and not drop when slide off. Would also give some protection when rolling in and out as base would rub on whatever instead of case. ;)

Case does not but support any CPU sockets. But you can put motherboards that do support 2011 CPU sockets in R4 case. ;)

Ya did not think it was necessary to right the full... 2011 X79.
Anyway I just checked my board which is a GA-X79-UD5 E-ATX so that's a no in my case.

Still 2011 is a socket, not a motherboard size. E-ATX is a motherboard size.

R4 supports ATX, Micro ATX, Mini ITX; but not E-ATX
 
This might sound like an ignorant and stupid question, but:
How many fans are included in the package (stock), and what sizes are they 120mm or 140mm?

I think it's 120mm x 3 - but I might be wrong.

Going to get the R4 titanium most probably :)
 
140mm fans included. Go to Fractal Design website or good Define R4 review and read. All the info is there.

From the review the R4 looks like it has all the improvements I'd have expected ( see issues with R3 my speed review )

If the gromets are stiffer, the only issue that i can see might be an issue, is again space behind the mobo tray for cable runs and the lack of space from the roof for a 240mm rad clashing with your mobo.

after getting a 240 in the front of the R3 you might get a 360 in there by removing the HDD racks.
 
Talk to your supplier and get a discount instead of doing RMA maybe? £20.00 sound good.. maybe a voucher you use on your next buy?

I won't be buying anything more in the next 3years - so a voucher, as good as that might sound, would be completely useless to me :/

My mum says to keep it, and leave it at that, not to go to the trouble of returning etc.

If it was my case (instead of my R2) I would want 2x 140mm front fans intake, 1x 140mm bottom fan intake with rear 140mm exhaust and probably not butpossible 1x 140mm top back exhaust.
And raise case so you have 50mm clearance for airflow to bottom fans.
