hey guys, I'm STILL tryin to decide which tft to go for :(

I think i've decided that i'd be happy with either 20 or 24" (screen size comparisn made at work using A4 paper and a stapler lol to get an idea of the actual size of the screens.....as you can imagine i've been v.busy at work :)) but my main concern is what will the 360 and movies/vid clips look like on them?? theres also a small price matter. i can afford both but if i can get the same kinda quality on the cheaper one then i'd be happy with that. besides the component (which i hear is shoddy anyway) that i wouldnt ever use, card reader (that i have anyway) and 1080p support (that as far as i know isnt supported via DVI on the 2407. is it supported via VGA as i know 1080p support via VGA is in the next dash update for the 360) there isnt much between them except the larger screen size

has anyone got any comments, views or even screenshots of a vid or 360 connected via vga to either of the Dell's?

I'm just curious as to what the 1:1 pixel mappings like, what the best res would be to set the 360 to on each etc

help me make up my mind as its pay day tomz :) lol

Be interested too, as ive just ordered the 2007WFP 20".

So excited, just hope its the right choice lol. (gulp)

is the 20 really that big? How high and wise is the actual screen?

At moment I have a Vision Master Pro 410 which has a screen size of 16 inches, and aroudn 10 inches high and 13 inches wise, so am curious to know the actual screen size of the 2007wfp.

The 360 through VGA on the 2405 looks good to me, it's a very nice size for bedroom gaming. I'll try the new resolution tomorrow after the update and let you know how things are.
I had a 2005fpw and it was a very nice step up from a 17"tft but the 24" is an even nicer increase.

That's the thing I don't like about widescreen. The reduction in vertical height unless you consider a 24" screen. Unless it's just your paper mock up under selling the display.

the mockup is accurate to about 5mm(lol had a lot of time today to set it up)

i used www.projectorcentral.com's pj calc on the widescreen pj i have to get the vertical and horizontal heights. it should be accurate unless the dell is a slightly different aspect ratio to my pj (panny pt-ae500)

A 20.1" 16:10 display will measure 10.65 * 17.04 inches.

A 19" 5:4 display will measure 11.87 * 14.84 inches.

That's just the actually display without bezel. I think your mock-up may be a little bit short in vertical height maybe. Maybe you did a 16:9 version.

I'm using a 17" at the moment and have the 2007WFP ordered. Same height (well the 20" is slightly taller), and nearly 2 inches wider on each side. Doesn't sound a lot on paper, but I'm expecting it to feel a lot bigger in a widescreen supporting game because of the extra peripheral view. I'll post back with how much bigger it looks when my new Dell turns up.

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but did anyone ever answer/find out whether the 2407WFP can support 1080p or 1080i via VGA?

What I'm thinking is - the 360 now supports 1080p, and there's the new HD-DVD drive for the 360 out anytime. Looks like it could be a good cheap way into HD movies.

It supports 1920x1080 (not sure whether thats i or p.....)
But it stretchs the image to 1920x1200. Personally I couldn't have told you that it was only 1080 high, it was only seeing my mate set his xbox up (on my screen) that I noticed.

Thanks. It's just I was reading it doesn't support 1080i or 1080p via DVI or component - apparently a limitation of the scaling chip - hence I'm asking about VGA.

I'm not entirely sure, but there could be a difference between doing 1920x1080 for games and supporting 1080p for movie playback.

I planning to get a 360 and the HD-DVD drive for it, and wondering if I can get 1080p movie playback by upgrading from my Dell 2007WFP to the 2407WFP somewhere down the line.
