Hi guys, I know this has been discussed to death on these forums. I've searched through previous threads and couldn't find anything that suggested a solution for me, so I thought I'd explain my problem and see if you guys can help me out.

I recently bought one of the Gigabyte 480 SEs that are on offer at the moment. I couldn't be more thrilled with that card, it provides insane performance for the money. However, I noticed on older games and game menus I'm getting really loud coil/cap whine from the card. I fired up fraps and this whine is only audible when the FPS is 120+, hence why it's prominent on menus.

I bought a new PSU to go with the card, it's a Coolermaster 750W GX. Annoyingly, when I swapped in my old, no-name 700w PSU the cap whine disappeared. I got the Coolermaster from eBay so I don't have the original purchase receipt, but it came with the original packaging and looks barely used. I'm certain it's under the 5 years covered by Coolermaster's warranty. I've emailed the seller to ask if he has the original receipt but as yet have heard nothing back from him.

SO, is this actually a fault? I've read several people saying this is just an unfortunate circumstance of certain combinations of hardware. If it is a fault, it seems to be with the PSU rather than than the GFX card. Is it likely to be a design flaw or a fault with this particular PSU? If the PSU is not technically 'faulty' then I can sell it to fund its replacement.

So, before I go down the route of PSU replacement does anyone have any suggestions? And if I do go down the replacement route is it worthwhile pursuing a new coolermaster replacement? Or will this provide the same fault and I should bite the bullet and buy a new model altogether. If I do go down this route does anyone have any recommendations?
