Yet another eBay non-payment

I had this with an iPad over Christmas. Sold as new (as it was), yet because the IMEI didn't match the one on the box as it was replaced by Apple he said his insurance wouldn't cover it and refused to play.

Was hilarious!!

I tend to stay on websites like OCUK, really can not stand eBay anymore, full of idiots and the customer service is really bad. PayPal are great for customer service though. In my experience anyway.

My latest one was trying to sell my laptop, they said they were local and would pay cash on collection to avoid fees. I was willing to do this but they wanted to collect same day after 10pm and have not heard from them since I refused. Not sure what the scam could have been.

At one point they gave a female name and said they would be busy doing photo shoots all week so could only do that day, despite ebay account clearly being a bloke. Can't help thinking I'd have a few stab wounds and one less laptop if I'd accepted....

I have sold yet another item (a old PC case) on Ebay and the buyer has yet again failed to make any attempts at payment, isn't replying to my messages either. Getting SO fed up with eBay, nothing but issues. Kinda have no option to use them as there is no alternative!!

If there anything like my sister then she won't check to see if she has won an auction to at least 5 days after it has ended.

Whilst scammers and time wasters are a lot rarer on the MM, it isn't exactly a seller's paradise. Expect to sell things for less money than you'd get on ebay; after all you're selling to a much more limited (and knowledgeable) userbase.

Not always. I once payed more for used Lord of the rings boxset on MM (£18 I think) Price for new on rainforest at the same time £15 :D Served me right for not checking before I sent money. In my defense I was considering buying it week earlier when it was £25 on rainforest.

The days of ebay being a viable means to sell stuff is fast becoming the past. Ever since they switched to the policy of a 100% money back guarantee for the buyer, this has in turn put a 100% risk on the seller. I do a lot of ebay through work (powerseller) and a lot of personal stuff too, but have barely used it over the last 1-2 years due to the amount of problems i've had. Couple of examples..

We sold a very rare digital camera in full working order and post it off, brilliant we thought, decent amount of money & a quick sale. We get an ebay resolution center pop up 2 weeks later stating the camera is missing the internals and that this has been confirmed with fujifilm (he sent it to them after he had removed what he needed so of course they are going to agree its missing parts). Obviously we can't prove to ebay it had the internals in when we posted it (other than you can see in the listing photos) so ebay issue the guy with a full refund of £800 and we get a camera back missing the internals.

Thats just one side of things, the amount of idiots that can't read is mind boggling. We sell quite a lot of our faulty electrics on ebay where we clearly state if the item is faulty and is for spares and repairs only. We had several buyers buy spares and repairs items from us and then complain they are not working when they arrive, we had this happen several times within a short period of time and ebay BANNED our account because we dropped below power seller guidelines due to people not reading our listings properly.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Absolute madness, and when they leave you negative feedback you can't leave negative feedback on theres!:mad:

Anyway, i could go on and this has turned more into a rant... :p

It's basically theft. If you sent it to his address I know what is like to do lol.

Luckily I have only ever had one issue on eBay. I sold a car on behalf of my Mum, auction finished one night, spoke to buyer on the phone who arranged to pick the car up first thing the next morning. He came, from quite some distance away, picked fault with the car, tried to blag that it was obvious it had been in a crash etc etc, and offered me less than half what he won the auction for. Basically told him to do one and off he went.

I got negative feedback typically, but thankfully, ebay removed it after I explained the situation.

Other than that I have never had an issue, and I have 318 feedback ratings now, so have used it a fair bit.

never realised that this kind of thing was so bad on ebay
but then i have only ever used it to buy items
and always paid as soon as the auction has ended
that story of the camera though surely that would be theft and should have involved the police

OP you know you can file an NPB claim after 4 days I think it is now, yes? If he fails to pay then you get the chance offer the next highest bidder a Buy it Now at the highest bid he put in. If not you'll get your listing fee + FVF back if nothing else.

Me too I had some neg f/b removed because of some numpty thinks he can pull one over me. Got that removed too. 380 feedback.
