Yet another eBay thread...

Sold several phones on eBay before and never once had a problem. Please ignore all the eBay haters on here and just deal with it on a single cases basis :)

Spent the best part of an hour exchanging several messages with the buyer last night to get the problem resolved and she's more than happy to take it up with Samsung under the warranty to get the problem rectified so I supplied what I could in order for her to start a warranty claim with them.

From what I read last night it seems to be a common problem for the fingerprint scanner to go wrong on these phones which she also discovered as well.

Lastly - I withdrew the funds directly into my bank account as soon as she paid for the phone.

Personally I don't think you are being scammed, just stupid and over expectant ebay buyers who expect a 2nd hand cheap unit to be covered like a brand new high street item. It was 2nd hand and cheap.

The problem is Ebay do not recognise this (2nd hand) and therefore you are treated like a high street seller.

To sum up, you are shafted and you will get back the original phone and it will cost you the charges.

I have given up selling on Ebay years ago because of this problem.

She sounds genuine to me, even though if the phone was "sold as seen" and listed as such she should not be expecting a refund from you. However EBay's policy of always siding with the buyer is also a mistake they need to rectify. It should be a case-by-case basis of when in doubt, side with the buyer, but examine the evidence of both sides first!

In her defence though, it sounds like she is looking out for her son, which should not be too much of a surprise. Well done on sorting out the warranty with her and hopefully, it's sorted.

Depends how the phone was listed as it appears in this case it was sold as excellent condition / fully functioning.

If I were the buyer in this scenario I would also expect a refund and the OP should have checked the phone fully before selling as we all know how eBay returns play out.

Glad you've got it resolved relatively pain free.
