Hey guys,

Been trawling the forums for many months now but finally got my arse into gear to register (thought I already had, actually :S).

I know, these forums are littered with the dead remains of so many threads like this one, but heck, I need the advice. I'm sick of reading review after review that disagree with eachother; the market's a minefield!

I did have a lovely pair of Sennheiser headphones to my name, though my brother found out I nicked them a year ago from him and promptly took them back home with him to Rome yesterday (how selfish of him, I know).

I'm a gamer, obviously, and I'm currently rocking a pair of Poundland earphones bodged up to be used as a microphone, so I think it's about due time I invest in a decent one again. So, I've been looking at the range of 5.1/7.1 headsets (with mic) - Sennheiser 350/360, Corsair 1500, Logitech G35, and the Razer Megalodon.

I'll be running the headset from my motherboard soundcard, I don't have a dedicated soundcard for the job. Would a USB headset then be better for the job as it'll get the adequate power it needs, without me having to buy a soundcard/pre-amp?

So far the Megalodon is getting my vote from reviews. I've heard the Senn. 350 has pretty crap low frequency sounds, and makes everything sound like a 50s radio. The G35 I've heard is great in sound quality, but bit snaps off and break every three minutes, which isn't brilliant for me as I tend to drop things a lot! The Corsair 1500 is tempting due to the brand, but I can't really find many useful reviews.

I listen to music a lot, I'm no audiophile - but I know when I'm listening to **** quality audio, and it bugs me. I've got up to about £120 to spend (including microphone if it's seperate from the headphones).

So, to summarise, great for gaming, great for music/movies, and with either a microphone attached or with the budget slightly reduced so I can get a standalone one.

Cheers guys. :)

All the review say the surround sound is great, but what about music? Some people say the bass is a bit crap.

As I said I'm using my on-board sound card (whatever the ASUS Z68 comes with). Reckon it'll be good enough?
