I have 4x1g Geil DDR2-667 (333), the problem is my speed is at a stated 440. Why is this? Is it due to my o/c?

EDIT: Ok, just figured it out...I'm on a 220x13 (2860MHz)...220x2 (DDR) = 440!!!! Stupid me  Come to think of it, is that what a 1:1 ratio is or is it summat else?

Correct 1:1 in this case the memory is running at 220MHz (440MHz effective). It's Syncronous . Asyncronous is where the FSB and RAM are out of sync.

An FSB of 333MHz on a 5/6 ratio would increase your memory to 400MHz (800MHz effective).. Assuming you have PC2-6400, which you don't.

Therefore, at 220MHz, you'd be looking at a 4/6 ratio.

220 / 4 * 6 = 330MHz (660MHz effective) - Just below the maximum speed of your RAM.

Ah, ok cool so I'm not too far off my rated speed, that's good news. Just wished I took that PC course at college now and not NVQ Level 3 in The Dark Arts of Guess Work.... ;) Thanks for the insight

Modjo salutes!
