Hows this!! Dont know about the power supply. Ive always found it so boring to tidy the cables and ive never done a good job of it because I couldnt be bothered so im thinking of a modular psu. What do you think. Also i dont want to spend more than about £80 on a power supply and there is a small chance that i will be going sli in future. And By the way i have a Leadtek GTX 280 already from when they were cheap!!

Whilst they'll do you fine now, if you're serious about SLI'ing in future you need to up your budget, you CANT get a decent PSU that will support a high end SLI set up for £80, its just not possible

Looks good timbo, I'd go for 520W Corsair, but if your seriously considering going SLi with another 280 (which is a bit stupid for your monitor) get 650W Corsair.

Well personally I wouldnt be running an SLI rig on only 600Watts, I know the power calculators prob indicate 450-500Watt draw, but Id still recomend more headroom to ensure PSU is not going to be strained and therefore have a short life expectancy

i am using a 700 watt thermaltake toughpower to run 2x4870's in crossfire and that was only £70....or does sli need more power than crossfire to run ok?

Get a 640GB Western Digital HDD instead.

Get a cheaper Pioneer DVD drive instead.

what he said regarding the hdd. i would even say a 320gb single platter drive would be better in terms of speed. denser platters=more speed

as for the psu you really should be looking at a quality 650w minimum if your thinking sli with 280s or 260s. 750w quality ideal. sould be around your budget still.

Trying to spec an i7 myself and found this illuminating.

"At this point those looking to build a Core i7 system should consider buying low-latency DDR3-1066 memory, or at most 1333MHz memory.

The only other choice you need to make is whether you want to buy a 3GB of 6GB kit, and honestly, if you are a gamer buying the latter is probably a waste of money, especially with current DDR3 prices that will only drop in time. But if you are thinking fancy for your new Core i7 setup, 6GB definitely sounds way better on paper"
