Won't bore you with a long post, just keep it simple.

I'm looking at the Samsung XL2370 23inch 2ms LED monitor. I can find this for £240 delivered.

I'll be doing equal parts movie and game playing on it. Is this the best to buy for <£250? (Maybe a touch over if worth the extra).

It's a great monitor for gaming and movies. There would have been a time when I would not hesitate to recommend it. The problem is that Dell have now released their UltraSharp U2311H IPS monitor. This renders a superior range of shades and has far more accurate and consistent colours with excellent viewing angles. It's not quite as responsive as the XL2370 but unless you're playing Counterstrike et al. it gives a very fluid feeling experience with very low input lag. This can be had for around the same price as the XL (or around £20 more).

Hmm, because Counterstrike is among the games I would be playing most often, as well as Battlefield-BC2 and TF2.

Are the colours and viewing angles such an improvement that it more than makes up for the small increase in response times?

Viewing angles - MASSIVE difference
'Better' colours - probably not much difference in games, its not a wide gamut screen (the ips panel is more accurate & shows true colours without dithering but that doesn't matter much for gaming)

I just used counterstrike as an example because some people who play it are super-particular about responsiveness. I have tested Bad Company 2 on plenty of Dell IPS monitors and it was a joy to play on any of them. :)

I'm not highly picky about the responsiveness in counterstrike, just so long as it's close enough to not tell without really looking for it. Movies will be used on it a lot too so the extra viewing angles and colours will be needed then. Thanks.
