Got a friend who has been looking around and is thinking of getting the following

DFI BloodIron P35 (Motherboard)

processor Q6600

4GB of namebrand (RAM)

Samsung Spintpoint F1 HDD (Hard Drive), (1 Terabyte)

ATI Radeon HD4870 (Graphics card)

TT120 or Zerotherm Nirvana 120 (Heatsink)

Single-rail PSU providing at least 450w, preferably from PCP&C or OCZ (Power Supply)

Antec 900 or CM-RC-690 (Case) or simular

Any recommenda\tions?

I'd change the P35 for a P45 motherboard, the asus P5Q boards are great.

What's the PC going to be used for, mainly gaming, photoshop etc

Also what's the budget?

What size of monitor does your friend have? The 4870 will handle well up to 1900x1200 resolution, the HIS is on special offer this week, making it a great buy.

I've chosen a dual core processor, for gaming purposes I prefer a faster dual core over quad. With the noctua cooler you can overclock it easily. I've got mine up to 3.8Ghz. The Q6600 is also a really good chip, so long as you overclock it, some can reach 3.6. It's the age old debate for dual vs quad. You wont be dissapointed by either of them though.

The case is basically up to you (well your friend) so pick one that suits your needs and that you like the look of.

Does he already have an operating system? If not go for vista 64bit, it'll make the most of the 4gb ram.
