Anyone who commutes by tube in London will know: The last year has seen an absolute explosion in the amount of members of the fairer sex wearing yoga pants to and from work.

Now don't get me wrong, as someone who appreciates a fine derriere I will never complain, it certainly makes the tube rides a bit less mundane than staring at briefcase Carefulbankers when you've finished the Metro but you can't tell me that all these women go to the gym. No chance. Zero. Nada. So why do they do it? Do they wear them to commute in and then get changed at work? Why?

I dunno.

Seems to be a way of effectively putting your assets on display without quite being a nudist.

Comfort, attention and a way of putting your assets on display without quite being a nudist.

Basically because it's the current trend regardless of whether the wearer has an asset worthy of being in a pair.

I'm sure some do it for the comfort and now that it's thing to do/wear they feel more happy and less self conscious to wear them themselves.

No, not all those who wear them go to the gym/yoga, that is very obvious and I'm sure the number that you see that do is very, very low.

It's a similar thing to them going supermarket shopping in their pyjamas! I mean there's even a car advert based on that

Because they all signed up for that website, forgot to tick the box and have not got around to cancelling the direct debit and have loads of credit to spend.

Not everything is about men! Activewear is very cool in Summer heat like we've had. It stops you becoming a sweaty mess which nobody likes. Firstly you perspire less, secondly it evaporates away quickly like nature intended rather than soaking your clothes. Men don't mind a sweat patch so much, but women do.

Plus I think you're probably underestimating the number of people who have either been to the gym or simply like to run before or after work or at lunch. Huge numbers of people do.
