Hi all,

My brother used my computer and I ended up with some rather annoying malware taking over all my browsers and in the end I decided to just wipe and do a fresh install.

So, install done, all the drives connected up and I have an external hdd with a photo folder that is currently being used as a network drive for everyone to store photos on, I am then creating a backup of it on another drive.

Whenever i right click an image and select "rotate clockwise/anticlockwise" I get the following error message:

"You cannot rotate this image. The file might be in use or open in another program, or the file or folder might be read-only"

If I copy photos or folders out of the photo main folder (same hdd or different hdd) it allows me to edit them.

Nothing has the photos open and the main folder is read only, however when I deselect read-only and click apply, even after it has run through the entire folder it is still marked as read-only.

I am stumped. Any advice?

Edit: Also, despite being an admin account I am fed up of being asked "Please provide administrator permission to....", what's the best way of getting round this?
