Hello everyone. I am getting this problem which is now has become an ongoing issue. My windows gives me a message ''You have unplugged a device from audio jack'' and then instantly after a second it shows ''You have plugged a device into audio jack''

This has happened before and dissapeared itself after a while. Now, anyone can tell what is causing this? I can't watch a video or play game without sound lags which last 1-3 sec. Also that popping window is realy annoying. Sometimes when i click Mixer on sound bar, i get all bars flashing like they are switching between each other. Now it has stopped but I still get these sound lags. I got Z77 Sabertooth with onboard sound and I am looking to get an external sound card if we don't resolve this. I have never damaged that jack I am sure about this and my speakers are brand new, I checked with other speakers and get the same problem. My idea at the moment is that it is conflicting with NVIDIA or something? I was just thinking if I get an external sound card this issue will be still there if thats something to do with that jack/mobo and I will still get pop-ups.

I made a video a while ago when I first had this issue have a look. Link here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNN7YBgMI78 as you can see it is quite sick..

Please help guys.

Josh b.

UPDATE - It keeps happening even when all devices are not connected with PC, front USB ports work fine and there is no sound lag.
UPDATE 2 - I have disabled all sound devices in CP and that message still comes up. OMG!
UPDATE 3 - Uninstalled all drivers and allowed windows to find them automatically. It did. Now I plugged cable into from chassis green port, still get sound lag. When I press on sound icon it does like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lpj1ArHovIs
UPDATE 4 - Installed drivers and took them off again and allowed windows to search his. Jack is unplugged but I did plug in front USB Headphones and now getting this :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aVbjbMV4js

I'm out of ideas in here..

I has this with a 775 mobo, think it was an MSI
ended up disabling onboard sound and plopping a Xonar DG in there.

Thanks god that I am not the only one. So was it onboard sound which was dead? Did you do anything specific when it died or it just happened randomly, one day?
Thanks.

Looks like your integrated audio may be dead or dying, might be some disruption.
I think I had this before with one of Asrock Z77s.
Also reminds me of one thing which was happening to my old screen.
the plug connector inside was loose and I had to use some tape to hold it up, otherwise it slowly started disconnecting and screen started to flicker.
And this sort of reminded me, looks like your sound card is 'flickering'.
Do you still have it on warranty?
I would return it and get a new one that way.

Thanks for getting back. Motherboard is still on warranty but if I will replace I will get 1150 as it is time to get something new and defo I will go for external sound card not onboard. At this stage should I get external sound card if I don't want to replace mobo?

I still want to know how the hell sound just starts flickering randomly and if it is dying, what caused it?

Aye drove me mad mate, just started popping up disconnetced/connected/disconnected constantly

I also have this problem with my motherboard in signiture, specifically it was the 3.5 mm front panel port having the problem. I don't even have anything plugged in the header.

IIRC, i fixed it by making the front panel header 'AC97' instead of 'HD' within the BIOS. you loose front audio, but i don't care.

But in the end I bought a Essence STX sound card and never looked back.

You know exactly how I felt when it started.

Thanks to everyone who responded and helped. This forums is the best I've seen.

Josh.

Updated - It's all good again, doesn't connect/disconnect , but I will still get an external
