You know you're a hoarder when you find...

Having always rented I have been forced to have a clear out every few years, otherwise I'd have a loft full "gems". I'm lucky to have a partner with a similar desire to cut down on the crap we move from house to house... Saying that I we recently had a little one, can't see her wanting to get rid of any old baby stuff.

I will store stuff.. have done for years.

I just did a clear out today of the garage.

A 5yd skip is over flowing and the garage is still half full.

I still have pretty much every Total Film magazine from first issue in the mid 90s to around 2005. Pretty much covers the time I frequented the cinema the most and there's a lot of memories associated with that. But to an outsider probably considered "hoarder".

And now we can become friends :)

TDK SF90 - Chrome is fine but Metallic is better. TDK M90. Don't look back.

Ok, quick check, 369 Model kits.

I must introduce to my mate- he has his attic half filled with unbuilt kits, no exaggeration.

A friend owns a trailer manufacturing company. I asked once if he had any old MIG welding wire plastic reels to keep electric cable, cord, temporary electric fencing wire et cetera on. The cardboard cheeked ones just fall apart or deform.

I see him regularly and now have over fifty reels.. I must resist, but they'll "come in handy" :)

Another friend asked if could have a couple off me, I spent ages trying to give him ten, but he has more sense than me and dug his heels in at two <lol>

Nothing wrong with hoarding, you never know when you're going to need the 4ml of paint left in the bottom of the tin to touch up the shed door (that's already been repainted twice in different colours since), or when the wiring harness for the rear light cluster for a car you sold 6 years ago is going to come in handy!

I'm emptying my house and surely half the skip is paint!

When my great uncle died, my great aunt was moving to a property near to her daughter.

My mum and I helped my great aunt and daughter (mum’s cousin) in clearing out stuff.

When my great aunt and great uncle ran out of wardrobe space, they purchased another wardrobe! Same thing with sheds. Most of us would have a clear out then discovered we had space!

Think they had FOUR sheds and EIGHT wardrobes.

They lived in a dormer bungalow. The dormer bedroom looked like a wardrobe showroom!

Things I can remember was finding a box with a landline phone written on it ‘phone - broken’. Did my great uncle think that there are elves like in the Elves and the Shoemaker? That the phone was going to work again?

Then my mum’s cousin found 3 suitcases of clothes she wore late 60s/early 70s which were moved three times since mum’s cousin moved out of her parents!

I took the clothes to a vintage clothing shop and got £150 for them.

My dad’s friends are moving to a smaller property. His friend found stuff from his parents in the garage’s loft who died 35-40 years ago. He said he was going to sort it out one day when he got the stuff. Maybe 35-40 days later, not 35-40 years!
