Dropped my car into the garage first thing this morning for an investigation to a funny noise it's been making. The guy had had to lend his loan car out at the last minute in an emergency, so he chucked me the keys to his own car, and I went off to work in a W (2000) plate Alfa Romeo Spider.

Only the 150bhp 2 litre 16v one, and not particularly fast, but possibly the coolest courtesy car in the world. Much kudos to the dude at the garage as well, he's a really nice bloke - helped me out on a few occasions.

And it sounded nice too!

Courtesy car? Best and worst is a 1 litre Punto. It was truly awful.

Hire cars, however, I've had some great ones. 2.3 turbo Saad 93 Aero probably top of the list. But the 307cc was pretty good too, especially when the usual fare is a 1.4/1.6 Astra or something else equally uninspiring.

Unfortunately my only courtesy car was a dreadful 1.2 Ibiza. Easily far worse then any Metro et al I've driven

Hopefully times will improve though!

My housemate's has got to be one of the worst though - he drives a current shape JDM Celica 190 and he got a Corsa 1.0 Automatic as a courtesy car!

Courtesy car..
Best - Pug 407 HDI - handled surprisingly well. Was fun to keep the ESP light flashing as much as possible.

Worst - Almera 1.5 - lovely revvy engine, but I didnt know what the wheels were doing and the interior was horrible.

Best? 2006 BMW 530d Sport Auto, although I'm not sure whether it counts as it was the demonstrator they gave us instead of a courtesy car.

Actual proper courtesy car, E90 320i ES I guess.
