Your best more obscure / unsigned bands?

i saw a band called BRENDA (not a fan of the name) the other month. Very good band, supporting Cult of Luna. Experimental Mogwai-esque music, with touches of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and the singer sounds similar to Jeff Buckley.

Also, i like a metal band called Exit Ten, who are from my hometown of Reading. Drummer's a good guy, used to work with him, got some good taste in metal he has!

Both are unsigned, BRENDA is the more obscure of the two i'd say.

My favourite band of the moment is signed, but a very obscure Power Metal band that not many people have heard of:

Dragonland - Myspace

Very very good musicianship despite the name and some really catchy stuff - I'm very surprised they haven't become more popular!

My current favourite unsigned/less known bands are:

Scouting For Girls (Keep on Walking is amazingg!!!)
Air Traffic
TV on the Radio
Okkervil River

And then of course:

Justice
Kavinsky
SebastiAn
Does it offend you, yeah?

Get them to change their name :p far too close to Dragonforce !

They actually both formed in 1999, Dragonforce were called Dragonheart back then....

Still names aside what do you think of the music?

pfft theyre signed :p

and as for obscure well theres an interview with muse on you tube where they request a "does it offend you yeah" track to be played after there interview

and the guardian for some unknown reason keep doing reviews of justice/digitalism etc and giving them top scores :D

one of the sunday papers did a full article about the new french electronic scene too but i cant find the link no more :(

got the digitalism album promo off fleabay and its ******* mint though, tjey where unreal live too considering theyre a "dance" act , played the instruments and did the sining to most the tracks off the albuma themselves on stage

imagine what people from the past thought the future would sound like, or how dance music could perfectly infuse rock and rave. Then think about how these things could happen both in a perfect world, and beyond it. And here are the results!

ta for the link sir, and yep they're signed but probably slightly obscure to most. Have you got the Justice album yet? I have to say it is rather spiffing. 'DVNO', 'New Jack' and 'Genesis' are all great tracks I've not heard before. Loving it.

edit: muse interview, which one's that?

yeah its ok , i prefer the digitalism and SMD albums though :( , guess waters of nazareth just had me expecting too much, still need to catch the new justice live show somewhere , then ill of seen the 3
