I know it's not hard to cook a steak, but it can be hard to cook a steak to perfection!

So how do you guys do yours?

More points for seasoning and flavouring and pics would be great!

hot butter, seal it both sides. Eat. Dip your chips in the blood
Dipping chips in the 'blood' is great ;)

I tried like half a dozen times to make my steak 'nicer'

Like a couple minutes on each side, then leaving it to rest. Most of the time I over cooked it =/

I just throw it in the pan now with oil rubbed in, bit of salt, tiny bit of pepper and that's it.

Medium rare always. And always from Costco :D

I like to marinade my steak sometimes in this : -
soy sauce
Worcestershire sauce
mustard
pepper
cumin
little bit of olive oil

Drain a bit of the marinade off before cooking (just hold the steak up and let it drip off a bit). You can then add the rest of the marinade at the end and make a sauce with it.

When can you come round and cook for me?

That sounds right up my street!

It all depends on mood, but usually simple.
Rare steak or just bloody. Roast cherry tomatoes, butter fried mushrooms and chips. Roast tomatoes give all the sauce you need, especially if drizzles with a little balsamic.

Either...

Rub in salt pepper and some oil, fry in dry, hot pan, don't touch it until you flip it. Add a knob of butter towards the end and 'baste' it so it goes nice and shiny.

Then, if I've got a bottle of wine open, deglaze the pan with it whilst the steak rests.

Or... I might put a big hunk of stilton on top and chuck it under a hot grill for a few seconds after frying in pan.

I usually take mine out half an hour before I cook it so it's near room temperature, put little extra virgin olive oil on the steak along with pepper and salt and cook it anywhere between rare and medium rare. Then I put it on the plate, put little extra olive oil over the top again and put some foil over the plate for about 10 minutes. If I have some decent bread, I'd dip it into the olive oil and juice mix as well while I'm eating the bad boy.

ooo yes neoboy, def have to let it stand for half an hour before cooking. Stops the meat tightening/becoming tough or something?

Also let it stand for a few mins before eating it (on a warm plate or such), will retain the juice when you cut it.

I use a griddle pan too :)

I make sure my steak is out of the fridge for at least 5-6 hours. Cover both sides in a garlic powder..... cook on both sides of a very hot pan for about 1minute50 each side.

Leave to rest and then serve.... It leaves a fillet steak about medium rare and tastes sooooo juicy!

I'm having steak tonight so wandered in here for a few suggestions. Thanks :)

I generally pulverize the steak a bit, to make it tender, rub in some oil, cover in salt and pepper and then fry it for about 3-5 minutes, serve with some steamed vegetables and chips. Lovely.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Don't hit the steak before you cook it!!!!!!! It ruins it.

Just leave it out the fridge for a few hours before, rub some oil + seasoning (I use garlic powder) into it, leave it for about 5 minutes then cook how you like (which I hope is no more than medium rare :p)

Dredge steak in flour seasoned with pepper.
Pan fry for a minute each side in butter.
Leave steak to rest a little on a warm plate.
Add some chopped toms and diced red pepper to the juices in the pan.
Simmer for a couple of minutes.
Pour on steak and serve with ever you like. Usually chips.

Lovely, have it every Monday!!

Cover both sides in salt + pressed garlic, amount depending on thickness. Leave to marinade roughly 45-60 mins. This also gives enough time for the steak to come to room temperature. Wash marinade off, pat bone dry. Cook rare, leave to rest for 12 minutes while I prepare the veg. Nom.
