Your biggest hardware problem

For me it has to be motherboard/memory some motherboards are fussy with ram, the Gigabyte motherboards seem to have good compatability though, will be sticking with Gigabyte from now on.

I've had 3 faulty motherboards over the last 8 years+, 2 Abit motherboards but the RMA process was like 2-3 days excellent, had 2 Asus motherboards go faulty the 1st one I never even got the RMA back got fedup of waiting, the 2nd I didnt bother RMA'ing because their crap service - threw it in the bin - never bought an Asus motherboard since lol their RMA service takes 6-8 weeks far too long - Asus = CRAP.

As for ram, had some G.Skill faulty ram a few year ago too over 6 weeks for them to be sorted & that was with chasing up twice, put me off using their ram. Also had some Crucial go faulty but that took 2-3 days so quite happy there.

Forgot i also had a ram problem. Geil black dragon bsod on my new build. Swopped out the ram and found a stick had gone. took me about three hours to narrow it down lol. Should have checked that first really.

Motherboards - they can die for seemingly no reason at all, are a ***** to swap out and inconvenient to source a substitute/replacement, resulting in the longest downtime of any single component failure for the PC.

Only problem i had was my optical drive decided to not read DvD's, simple replacement but still a pain.

Oh, at work, GP D530 USFF - about ten of them [out of thirty] had blown caps. Seriously, a 1/3rd droppage rate?? Madness.

The Dell GX620s on the other hand have been pretty good - two have died - one overheating for no specific reason, and another with coil whine which appeared to be linked to random reboots. The others have been faultless.

Laptops. Every single time i get one, or i know somebody who has one, they break. I don't mean like a software problem, they literally melt. That's why i'm sticking to desktops until something series is done about cooling.

LOL thats exactly why I dont have one spent a fortune on one and it broke.
My biggest hardware problem has to be my cpu once a month it misreports one core as 200+oc and put my computer to sleep :D
