How fun so many people go for just the most expensive parts without even thinking if they fit together or that they need or will be able to use them even at small bit.
Anyways I would go with
Asus Rampage Extreme Intel X48 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
E8600
OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666C6 1333MHz ReaperX (2x2GB) Dual Channel DDR3
the incoming 4870X2 x2 in crossfire both with Accelero S1 and slow rpm noctua fans
Zalman GT1000 Z-Machine Black PC Case Zalman GT1000 Z-Machine Black PC Case
2x1TB spinpoint F1 in Raid0
2x 1TB spinpoint F1 for storage
Scythe Orochi with some nice 140mm 900rpm silent fan on it.

Obviously thats all I would want untill the nehalem,
My dream nehalem setup ( which will probably come true soon )
will be 12GB of solid top notch DDR3
probably the incoming Super RV770 or RV870 x2 in crossfire
same hdd's if nothing better comes out
and probably, all the same stuff, maybe I could get some top end watercooling.

why get water cooled gfx, w.o water cooling?
and would your sound card, two gfxcards (with the air cooling u seem to have bought, which wont have compatibility IICR) and TV card all fit?
i choose all my components carefully.
ok ive missed out several things i know (mouse, keyboard, speakers, and cables etc ) but of course each to thier own are far as these things go...also i got board do it..lol
also no aftermarket cooling listed as im not sure if any of the socket 775 cooler will fit the socket 771.
4 ssd's in raid for boot up and 10 larger drives for storage raid being an option.

I am going to be boring and say pretty much the pc i have. It does everything i ask of it with power to spare. A new case would be nice but it's not really neccessary. I just don't need any more power and this is probably going to be the longest that i will have the same rig. Pretty boring i know, but true.
